Brasov

Heading 170 km north from Bucharest along the Prahova Valley, the city of Brasov is located at the feet of the Bucegi and Postavaru mountains, close to Poiana Brasov a famous winter sports station and Bran hosting the Dracula castle. Once an important medieval trading center, Brasov is the third-largest city in Romania. Brasov's best sights can be found in the center of the city: Piata Sfatului, a large cobblestone square and the heart of the old Germanic town, is still surrounded in places by the original fortress walls; its buildings recall the region's German heritage. Built in the 15th century, the Black Church in Brasov is a Gothic masterpiece where organ concerts are daily performed.

How to reach Brasov

You may reach the city of Brasov, Romania, to attend RAAD-2009 by plane to the Otopeni International Airport Henry Coanda near Bucharest, where a direct bus shuttle transfer will be arranged for participants. The bus transfer schedule will be put in place according to the participants' flight arrivals which will be communicated in due time to the organizers.

Brasov can be also reached by train in 2.8 hours (rapid trains) from the North Railway Station in Bucharest according to the schedule one can configure and view at infofer.ro.

Brasov can be reached by car from Bucharest on the DN1 European road E60 in 3 hours; the road heads north along the Prahova valley and crosses tourist and winter sports towns Sinaia, Azuga, Predeal at the feet of the Carpathian Mountains to finally reach Brasov after 170 km.

How to reach the Aula building

The Aula building can be reached by bus no. 4 from the city train station, by taxi or by foot 10-15 minutes walking from the hotels situated in the centre of the city. See point 39 in map area B2 of Brasov.
